The Gartner Cool Vendors for 2012 are highlighted in a Special Report.  320 vendors in 75 categories have been highlighted. for all of them it is the exciting and important recognition that they are doing something right. I can still remember the buzz when Nimbus was voted Cool Vendor in BPM in 2007.

Which got me thinking. Wouldn’t it be great to do a “Where are they now?” 5 years on, for all the Cool Vendors in 2007. So I did a little research for the Cool Vendors in BPM.

Intalio “How can we use the Internet to develop better applications for the Enterprise?” Everyday since 1999, Intalio answers this question with innovative software based on industry standards and open source technologies. Since its creation in 1999, Intalio has received the support of visionary venture capital firms managed by veteran entrepreneurs of the enterprise software industry. The company is now profitable.

Ascentn (renamed Agilepoint) Has developed the first comprehensive BPM solution for the Microsoft platform. AgilePoint’s deep enterprise experience and its utilization of the latest Microsoft technology enable it to provide the first secure, reliable, scalable, and affordable BPMS solution on the market.

Nimbus (acquired by Tibco in 2011) Nimbus provides a strong complement to TIBCO’s event-enabled infrastructure software platform. Whereas TIBCO has traditionally focused on the automation of data, systems, and processes, Nimbus allows business users to collaboratively describe and document all aspects of a business – from operational best practices to organizational and system models.

So what is the fate of the 320 Cool Vendors of 2012?
